Why AMP Trust matters

AMP Trust has recently been launched as a professional network focused on bringing greater consistency, accountability, and shared standards to the renewable energy sector.

At its core, it’s designed to bring together people who are directly involved in how projects are delivered and, importantly, how they are managed once they’re live. That includes individuals working across operations, engineering, asset management, and the wider lifecycle of solar and energy storage assets. The structure is deliberately simple.

There are different levels of membership depending on how people want to engage. Founding Members sit at the centre of the network and help shape its direction. Technical Members bring practical, hands-on experience and contribute to discussions around standards and best practice. Associate Members are able to stay connected to the network, follow developments, and take part in the wider conversation as it evolves. From an operational perspective, the timing is relevant.

The industry is becoming more complex. There are more large-scale assets, more variation in how they are managed, and a growing gap between how systems are designed and how they perform in practice. That variation shows up in areas like maintenance approaches, data interpretation, and how issues are prioritised on site.

Individually, those differences might not seem significant. But across a portfolio, they can have a measurable impact on performance. That’s where AMP Trust becomes useful.

The aim isn’t to introduce rigid frameworks or add unnecessary layers, but to create a more consistent understanding of what “good” looks like in practice. Bringing together people with direct experience allows those conversations to happen in a more structured way, and over time, helps reduce ambiguity around how assets should be managed.

From a technical point of view, that kind of alignment is valuable. It supports more consistent decision-making, provides clearer reference points when assessing performance, and helps bridge the gap between theory and real operating conditions.

Launching AMP Trust at Solar & Storage Live provided a practical starting point, but its relevance sits beyond that.

As more assets come online, the focus naturally shifts towards how they are managed over time. In that context, having a network that supports consistency and shared understanding becomes increasingly important.
