We’re delighted to welcome Jo Baber to Solar Group Utilities, where she joins the team as a key link between our clients and our operations team.
Jo steps into the role with a clear focus on communication, organisation, and long-term relationship building. As the primary liaison between clients and the O&M team, her role centres on ensuring clarity, trust, and continuity across everything we do.

What first drew you to SGU?
What initially attracted me to SGU was the company’s commitment to innovation and automation, but just as importantly, the genuine care shown towards employee wellbeing and development. It was clear to me that SGU values people as much as performance, and that combination really matters to me.
Being part of a team that puts equal emphasis on its people and the quality of its work motivates me to bring my best every day. I’m looking forward to building new relationships, supporting the team, and contributing to SGU’s excellent reputation in the industry.
What do you hope to achieve in your first 90 days?
Over my first 90 days, I expect to support the existing SGU management and wider team using my previous experience within the solar O&M industry. As I gain a clearer understanding of SGU’s specific processes and requirements, I’m keen to use my organisational skills and industry knowledge to help streamline workflows and contribute to building innovative solutions that support the company’s continued growth.
Where do you think you'll make the biggest impact?
I think, and hope, that my biggest impact will be in helping to reduce the day-to-day load on Stuart and Darren. By supporting the flow of information and taking ownership of key coordination tasks, I aim to free up time and headspace across the leadership team.
What do you think makes the team at SGU stand out?
What really stands out to me about the SGU team is the balance between professionalism and care. There’s a strong focus on doing things properly and delivering results, but it’s underpinned by a culture that values people and encourages collaboration. That’s something I’m genuinely excited to be part of.
If you could learn a completely new skill, what would it be?
Not entirely a completely new skill as I have already started to learn, but I would love to be fluent in Spanish. Still a very long way to go on that front.
A book, podcast or TV show you would recommend to the team?
If I was to recommend any TV show to everyone else in the team it would have to be Friends or The Office, the American version, as you can watch them over and over again and they are still funny.
How do you usually start your day to set yourself up for success?
I would love to say that I have an important morning routine that I stick to every day to set me up for the day ahead, but some days I start with Pilates and smoothies, other days I just head straight for cornflakes and tea. I think the most important thing though for every day is to have a positive attitude.
What's something colleagues might be surprised to learn about you?
My colleagues might be surprised to know that my go to TV programmes of choice are usually about serial killers.
We’re really pleased to have Jo on board and excited about the experience, structure, and calm clarity she brings to the team. Her focus on communication, organisation, and long-term relationships will be a real asset as we continue to grow. Welcome to SGU, Jo — we’re looking forward to what we’ll build together.
Because we care.
